The Groom's Speech

Remember who you’re keeping sweet- thank the father of the bride for his good wishes in the opening speech and for his welcome into the bride’s family. That’s you’re opener out of the way…

Also use this opportunity to respond humorously to any banter he may have made toward you.
  • Talk about the wedding, the lead up and the preparations made for this big day.
  • Thank all of your guests for their guests and attendance.
  • Sincerely congratulate the bride’s parents on her upbringing and also for their organisation of the wedding.

Talk about your new wife. This is the heart of your speech.
  • Tell the story of how you met, how you proposed or any defining moments in your relationship so far.
  • At this time- focus on your wife more then on yourself; her responses, her actions and her characteristics
  • Now is the time for you to pull out the stops and be romantic, so do not shy away form telling her how you feel about her.
  • Tell your guests what you love about your wife.

Toast your wife
